Members of the Portuguese community in Accra have warmly welcomed newly-appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz who was officially handed the role just recently.

The group met the 73-year-old at the Accra Marriott Hotel on Saturday, where they congratulated him on his new role and expressed their full support as he begins his tenure in Ghana. They also assured him that the Portuguese community in the country stands firmly behind him.

Queiroz was officially unveiled last Thursday at the Alisa Hotel, taking over from Otto Addo as Ghana’s new head coach. He has been handed a four-month contract, with the primary objective of preparing the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while aiming to earn a longer-term deal.

The experienced tactician has already expressed confidence in his ability to guide the team to a strong showing at the tournament, assuring Ghanaians of his commitment to delivering results.

Queiroz had a busy Saturday, as he was also present at the Accra Sports Stadium to watch the Black Galaxies in action during their friendly matches against Heart of Lions and Aduana FC.

His early engagements highlight a hands-on approach as he begins work on shaping the national team ahead of crucial assignments.
