Popular Bibiani Gold Stars supporter Abubakari Yakubu has reportedly passed away following a motor accident.

According to a report by reliable journalist Mohammed Shaban, Yakubu died on Monday, February 24, 2025, after being involved in a fatal crash.

“Gold Stars’ number one supporter, Abubakari Yakubu, has passed away following a fatal motor accident on Monday,” Shaban wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Yakubu was a devoted Gold Stars fan who regularly attended the club’s home matches at Dun’s Park and travelled with the team for away games.

Known for his passionate support, he often attended matches with his body painted and carried a pot decorated in Gold Stars’ colours.

He is the second well-known Ghana Premier League supporter to pass away in February, following the tragic death of Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed during a league game.

Meanwhile, after the Ghana Premier League was temporarily halted due to Pooley’s tragic death, the Ghana Football Association announced that the league will resume from Friday, March 7, 2025.
