A poll has given another hint at a bounce for Keir Starmer after a frantic week of diplomacy on US and Ukraine.

YouGov research showed Labour edging back into a lead over Reform, up two points since the end of last month.

Although the change is within the margin of error, evidence is mounting that Brits are crediting Sir Keir following his trip to the White House, and response to the extraordinary bust-up between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.

Reform was unchanged on 25 per cent support and the Tories were down one point on 21 per cent, with questions having been asked on March 2-3.

A separate survey yesterday suggested Sir Keir’s net approval score has risen by 11 points over the past week, although it still remains deep in negative territory at minus 28.

The Labour leader has also overtaken Nigel Farage to be the most popular choice as premier, with 28 per cent saying he was the best option in the latest research by More in Common.

The boost comes after a dramatic week that saw Sir Keir make a successful trip to the White House – and then engage in frantic diplomacy after Volodymyr Zelensky‘s visit descended into a public slanging match with Donald Trump.

Tories have spoken out to welcome his move to offer international leadership, convening a high-level summit involving Europe and Canada to thrash out a strategy on Ukraine.

Labour MPs believe it has been the PM’s best spell yet, after a difficult and error-strewn opening to his time in Downing Street.

The More in Common polling started being conducted on Friday night after the Oval Office meltdown, and was completed on Sunday.

It found a five point rise in people approving of Sir Keir’s performance, while disapproval was down six points.

Some 28 per cent thought he was the best candidate for PM, up from 22 per cent last week.

That meant he leapfrogged Reform leader Mr Farage, who has been wriggling over his close alliance with Mr Trump and had 22 per cent support.

Tory leader Kemi Badenoch remains further behind on just 12 per cent.

More in Common detected 56 per cent thinking the handling of Ukraine negotiations reflected well on the Government, with just 9 per cent saying it was a negative.
