Ghanaian reggae/dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly known as Shatta Wale, has expressed frustration over the lack of support in the creative arts industry.

In a TikTok video shared on social media on February 21, 2025, Shatta Wale lamented that politicians see creatives as people who don’t know their worth.

He explained that industry players are reluctant to implement policies and also speak up for young creatives, hence making politicians exploit artistes without adequate compensation.

“The nonsense must stop. Politicians will forever see creatives as dumb because the people in charge are also dumb. Deal with the youth who are smart to see how best we can do something for the new generation,” he said.

Shatta Wale further expressed his opinion on how local languages should be taught by parents as a means to promote Ghanaian culture.

“The last time I was watching a programme and said we have to teach our children how to speak Twi because that is our culture. Meanwhile, the kids of these politicians are not doing the same… If these politicians come into power, they want to use a strategy to spend state money. Let me see any MP or minister saying that again; I would remove the person myself,” he added.
