Chaos erupted in Ejura in the Ashanti Region as a group of irate youth stormed the local police station.

The irate gang set the facility on fire and released prisoners who were on remand.

The incident occurred after the police told the young person that their recently arrested buddy had passed away while in detention.

Samuel Kudjoe Kwa-Sam, the assemblyman for Ahenbobouanor, attested to this.

He clarified that the suspect who had been charged with stealing a phone had come forward to the police and said he would be back this morning to help with the investigation.

However, he was arrested and later died, the Assemblyman told JoyNews. After the crowd overpowered the police, they damaged property and set the station on fire.
