Fire crews are battling a blaze in a commercial building in Brisbane‘s east on Friday morning just hours after fire destroyed a similar structure in the city’s north.

Queensland Fire Department said they are on scene at a commercial structure fire on Kingsford Smith Drive, Pinkenba, which broke out at 7.15am and is ‘producing large volumes of smoke’.

Crews had just last night extinguished a fierce blaze that had engulfed a building in Boothby St, Kedron which had also produced thick smoke, sparking warnings about air quality.

Residents have been advised they should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medication close by if required.

‘Motorists should drive with caution and be aware of the conditions’ Queensland Fire Department said.
