Grave fears are held for a pilot and two passengers of a light plane after it crashed on New South Wales‘ North Coast.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash at McIntyres Airfield on Palmers Island, about 120km north of Coffs Harbour, just before 11.30am on Sunday.

The pilot of the light aircraft is believed to have been trapped in the wreckage while two others are receiving treatment from paramedics.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said multiple ambulances and a rescue helicopter had been sent to the scene of the crash.

NSW Police are also rushing to the scene while a crew from the Rural Fire Service are providing ‘fire protection’.

Footage from the crash site shows dozens of first responders and civilians near the wreckage just off of the dusty runway.

    More to come.
