Amid ongoing discussions about dual-nationality players joining the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup, old images of Nottingham Forest winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi meeting with Ghanaian government officials have resurfaced online.

The image shows former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and then sports minister Mustapha Ussif meeting Odoi and his father, Bismark Odoi, at the Presidency.

Officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), led by President Kurt Okraku and Vice president Mark Addo, were also at the meeting.

Coach Chris Hughton was present to support the meeting’s success.

It was reported that President Akufo-Addo, Kurt Okraku, and other officials held extensive discussions with the player and his father about the possibility of representing Ghana at the international level.

Despite their efforts to convince the former Chelsea player and his family, their request was ultimately declined, and Odoi chose to represent England instead.

However, recent reports indicate that the player is now willing to switch allegiance to Ghana and possibly join the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup.

This development has been rejected by many Ghanaians, with Kurt Okraku reiterating that such players will not be considered for selection for the tournament.
