The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) will collaborate with sister agencies to conduct a series of training programs, equipping over 500 Ghanaian youths with the skills and expertise required for careers in the oil and gas sector.

Preliminary discussions between the PHDC, led by Deputy Chief Executive, Operations and Technical, Onasis Rosely, and key stakeholders, including the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST), and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) yielded positive outcomes with aders from all three agencies expressing strong commitment to the initiative.

These initial talks focused on critical aspects of the training program, including its framework, duration, and target participants.

This forthcoming training aligns with PHDC’s dedication to building local capacity in preparation for the Petroleum Hub project’s construction.

At the 2025 West Africa Mining and Power Expo (WAMPEX) on Thursday, May 29, Onasis Rosely, speaking on behalf of Acting PHDC CEO Dr Toni Aubynn, underscored PHDC’s commitment to partnering with local and international entities to provide Ghanaians — especially residents of the Jomoro area — with the necessary skills for the project’s successful implementation.

“Before the project commences, we plan to train hundreds of Ghanaians in various technical and support roles to bridge potential skill gaps during implementation. Our aim is to empower our people to fully capitalize on the opportunities this project offers,” Rosely stated.

He further emphasized, “We are proactively ensuring our workforce is trained and certified to international standards. While this initiative requires significant investment, we are steadfast in our commitment to achieving substantial local participation throughout the hub’s lifecycle.”
