Ghana’s ambition to strengthen its energy security and become Africa’s energy hub has received a major boost following the announcement of a partnership between two key institutions, the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the two institutions unveiled a ten-member working committee, co-chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Operations and Technical at PHDC, Onasis Rosely and his GNPC counterpart responsible for Exploration and Production, Michael N. A. Aryeetey.

At the heart of the committee’s mandate is to deliberate, engage extensively, and identify areas of possible collaboration that will help secure Ghana’s energy future while creating sustainable employment opportunities.

In his brief remarks at the unveiling ceremony, Onasis Rosely commended the CEO of GNPC and his management team for their receptiveness and commitment to the partnership.

He noted that the unveiling of the committee members solidifies the commitments made during their initial meeting in 2025.

Rosely stated that as Ghana sets its sights on achieving energy security and embarks on a massive industrialisation drive, collaboration and synergy among institutions within the energy sector cannot be overemphasised.

He expressed strong conviction and excitement that the partnership will deliver significant benefits to Ghana’s energy sector and ensure that the government’s transformation agenda is fully realised.

For his part, Michael N. A. Aryeetey noted that GNPC, in its bid to establish itself as a fully-fledged energy institution, has identified PHDC as a valuable partner in achieving this objective.

He added that the high-level representation on the committee is indicative of GNPC’s preparedness and commitment to collaborating with PHDC.

He further stated that GNPC has a rich history of partnering with agencies, and that this latest collaboration with PHDC is yet another strategic move which he believes will create value for both institutions.

Aryeetey assured the PHDC delegation of effective collaboration from his team, noting that all necessary documents and processes would be put in place to ensure a seamless and impactful partnership.

The members of the committee include Kwabena Owusu-Abrokwa, Director of Operations and Technical at PHDC; Dr Kwame Baah-Nuako, Advisor on Strategy and Sustainability, Amanda Dove, Senior Manager, Legal Affairs at PHDC and John Agordey, Head of Finance at PHDC.

The other members are Dr Albert Longdon-Nyewan, Director of Projects at GNPC; Albert Akowah, Director of Finance at GNPC; Mumuni S. Ibn Yacin, Director of Strategy and Institutional Reporting at GNPC; and Angela Hohoabu, Legal Affairs Manager at GNPC.
