Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, has broken his silence after testifying against his brother, Jude Okoye, in Court.
In a post on his Instagram story, Peter shared a message about family, betrayal, and protecting his mental health.
According to him, people should not allow the idea of ‘family’ to be the reason they suffer in silence, revealing that he endured such pain for over two decades.
He went on to emphasize that love should never come with manipulation, betrayal, or emotional abuse and that not everyone tied to you by blood deserves the ‘family’ title.
His post read;
“Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence.
I did – for over 20 years plus. And it almost cost me everything.
But now I know better – love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family does not steal from you.
Family that steals and breaks you isn’t family at all. Real family doesn’t drain you, shame you, discriminate against you, or ignore your pain.
My sanity matters. My mental health is a priority. IF IT COSTS MY MENTAL HEALTH, THEN IT’S TOO EXPENSIVE.”
His post has sparked different reactions from fans and internet users, with the majority praising him for speaking out.
Below are some of the comments;
“If families didn’t try to send you to mental hospital, you will never understand.“
“When you are winning in life. Love and establish your family from afar else they will drown you.“
“I still wanna know why three family members will do business together and one won’t be getting what he should be getting… una mama tell una say na bastard? Oga ooo“
“I always say this; you cannot hurt people and get surprised at how they choose to react. Why should money ever be an argument in the first place as brothers? Sigh. I guess if it were only the twin alone without an extra person, all these wouldn’t have happened.“
