Premier League giants Manchester City are plotting to sign Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo in the winter transfer window in January 2026.
According to British media outlet The Times, the Citizens are ready to meet the €65 million release clause in Semenyo’s Bournemouth contract.
Manager Pep Guardiola is said to be keen on signing the attacker to bolster his frontline and improve the team’s performance in the ongoing season.
The heavy reliance on Erling Haaland, who has scored 14 goals in the Premier League and the majority of the team’s goals, is another issue that has influenced the decision.
The club believes that the winger’s prowess in finishing and controlling the ball in tight spaces is an attribute that will strengthen their squad.
Earlier reports suggested reigning Premier League champions Liverpool were also interested, due to Mohamed Salah’s recent dip in form.
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) approaching, Salah will be away with his national team.
Signing Semenyo, who will be available during that time because Ghana failed to qualify for the AFCON, would help Liverpool remain competitive in all competitions.
The Ghanaian is in top form for his club, having scored six goals and provided three assists in 13 matches in the 2025/26 season.
