Semenyo scored on his City debut

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has praised new signing Antoine Semenyo following the Ghanaian forward’s impressive first appearance in the FA Cup 10-1 thrashing of Exeter City.

Semenyo joined City from Bournemouth during the January 2026 transfer window and was handed his first opportunity to feature under Guardiola in a competitive match on Saturday, January 10, 2026, against Exeter.

The 26-year-old announced his presence emphatically, providing an assist for Rico Lewis before scoring his first goal for the club five minutes later.

As such, ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg clash against Newcastle on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Guardiola revealed his satisfaction with the former Bournemouth forward while also wishing him well.

“He is a nice guy. He showed in a few actions [against Exeter] what he showed at Bournemouth and hopefully he can continue to do it here,” Guardiola said.

Guardiola also emphasized that the Exeter appearance was just the beginning of Semenyo’s integration into City’s squad.

The forward’s ability to adapt quickly to the demands of a top-tier Premier League team will be key as City pursue domestic and European success this season.
