Ghanaian gospel singer, Broda Sammy has expressed concerns about certain practices in the gospel music industry.

According to him, there is a division within the industry as some artistes refuse to work with others based on language and personal preferences.

During an interview on the ‘Asetena Pa’ show with Akoto Mansa, Broda Sammy pointed out a trend where certain gospel musicians, especially those who compose songs in English, prefer to only collaborate with other artistes who also sing in English.

“In this industry, some people pretend to be united, but they only work with those who speak English or share their beliefs. If you’re not part of their circle, they won’t even consider collaborating with you,” he said.

When asked about potential collaborations with well-known gospel artistes like Diana Hamilton and Kofi Owusu Peprah, Broda Sammy stated that while he is open to working with them, he would not initiate the process.

“If they reach out, I have no issue, but I won’t go to them. I’ve seen how this industry operates, and I won’t beg anyone for a collaboration,” he explained.

Broda Sammy also criticised what he perceives as hypocrisy within the gospel community, noting that while many artistes publicly promote Christian values, what they do in private is different from what they preach.
