A woman has died after she was ‘hit by a Tesco lorry’ in London this morning.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Mare Street in Hackney at around 11am after a lorry collided with a pedestrian.
The female pedestrian died at the scene.
Firefighters from Homerton and Bethnal Green were called to help police make the scene safe.
The crash caused huge congestion on the roads in the surrounding area, as drivers were advised to find alternative routes.
Three roads including Mare street were closed throughout the day following the crash.
Hackney Police were seen investigating the scene of the crash in the afternoon.
Nine London bus routes were also diverted for around nine hours.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told MyLondon: ‘Police were called at about 11:00hrs on Monday, 3 March to reports of a lorry in collision with a pedestrian on Mare Street in Hackney. Emergency services attended.
‘Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, sadly the female pedestrian died at the scene. Road closures are in place and enquiries continue.’
A London Ambulance service spokesperson said: ‘We were called on Monday 3 March at 10.58am to a road traffic collision on Mare Street, Hackney.
‘An ambulance crew, a trauma team in a car, paramedics in a fast response car and an incident response officer all attended the scene.
‘Sadly, despite our best efforts, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.’
Tesco has been contacted for comment.
