Members of the PAF have called for Sammy Gyamfi to be sacked amid gift controversy Members of the PAF have called for Sammy Gyamfi to be sacked amid gift controversy

The Patriotic Action Forum (PAF) has called for the immediate dismissal of the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following the emergence of a viral video in which he is seen publicly gifting dollar bills to preacher Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

In a strongly-worded statement released on Monday, May 12, the forum did not only label Sammy Gyamfi’s conduct as reckless and inappropriate, but also a blatant violation of the public trust.

“Sammy Gyamfi, barely four months into his role, is at the centre of this shameful new culture. The same man who has built a career attacking public officials is now spending a jaw-dropping $10,000 (approx. GHS 140,000) on fuel for a luxury Lexus V8, not for state business or a national emergency, but to chauffeur a former fetish priestess turned evangelist,” the statement read.

The group also took aim at President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, accusing it of fostering a culture of opulence, arrogance, and hypocrisy while the average Ghanaian endures worsening economic hardship.

PAF described the viral act of dollar-spraying as “grotesque abuse of office” and “unclouded arrogance,” especially at a time when many Ghanaians struggle to afford basic commodities.

“Ghanaians are being punished for trusting Mahama’s deceptive ‘Reset’ agenda,” the group said, pointing to rising living costs, job losses, and a resurgence of power outages (dumsor) as evidence of the administration’s failings.

They also labeled Sammy Gyamfi a hypocrite, citing his previous criticisms of high-profile individuals such as Cecilia Dapaah and Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

“There’s a saying: ‘He who seeks equity must come with clean hands.’ Clearly, Mr. Gyamfi’s hands are drenched in the very opulence and abuse he once condemned,” the group stated.

PAF called on President Mahama to either dismiss Gyamfi or demand his resignation immediately, arguing that failure to act would undermine the recently launched Code of Conduct for Government Appointees, which emphasizes integrity, impartiality, and professionalism.

“This is a litmus test for Mahama’s leadership. If he fails to act, it confirms what Ghanaians have long suspected: that the so-called ‘Reset’ is just a smokescreen to enrich party loyalists at the expense of the public,” the statement added.

The group issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the President to take action or face a potential legal challenge questioning the credibility of the new Code
