Highlife legend Pat Thomas, honourably called the Golden Voice of Africa, has visited the residence of the late Highlife icon Daddy Lumba to pay his respects and commiserate with his family.

Once he arrived and descended from his car, he was approached by the media.

The Sika Ye Mogya hitmaker was asked how he handled the news of Lumba’s passing. He indicated it was a shock.

“I didn’t take it [lightly] at all. It’s not easy at all. We are immensely sad, my family and I. We never expected this, but it has unfortunately happened. Once it is here, however, we have to all gather and handle things appropriately,” he said.

Thomas acknowledged he had worked numerous times with Daddy Lumba, noting he had “many memories” from these fond times.

“He is my little brother and nephew. We are both from one area. You know, you go from my town before you get to his in Asante. So, he is instantly my brother. We had a great relationship,” he expatiated.

“I can’t say much here right now. You understand, I hope? We will talk later,” he signalled his need for privacy and headed for the house.

In another scene, Thomas happily sang and danced with a cheer or jama team who were dressed in Ghana colours. The Gyae Su singer could not hold back his tears, however, when he signed the book of condolence.

The multidimensional Pat Thomas rose to more fame under the same Burger Highlife genre Daddy Lumba created and performed for.
