Pastor Kwaku Obeng, also known as Apostle John and a member of Spoken Word Evangelism in Kumasi, has made a startling claim that former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, is divinely chosen to become Ghana’s next president as an independent candidate.
The Apostle further declared that former Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, is God’s appointed choice as Kyerematen’s running mate.
He warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) risks collapse if it selects a flagbearer not sanctioned by God. He added that the party has lost its glory and divine favour.
“There is no particular leader in the NPP chosen by God for now. The NPP you see today has lost its total glory, and there is no need to choose any flagbearer. The party risks collapsing if they go ahead to disobey God’s will and choose someone as a flagbearer,” he said.
According to the Apostle, who made these pronouncements during a press conference in Kumasi, God has revealed that Alan Kyerematen’s path to the presidency lies outside of the NPP. He believes Kyerematen, running as an independent, is the only one who can fulfil God’s plan for Ghana.
He emphasised that Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu are divinely matched and uniquely positioned to lead the country forward.
Apostle John stressed that if the NPP stubbornly proceeds with selecting a different flagbearer, the party will face disintegration, as it would be contrary to divine will. He urged party members to heed this spiritual warning and reconsider their approach to the upcoming flagbearer election.
According to him, the best option for the NPP now is to form an alliance with Alan Kyerematen as an independent presidential candidate and support the Kyerematen–Kyei-Mensah ticket for the 2028 general elections.
The NPP is currently preparing for its flagbearer election to select a candidate for the 2028 presidential race. Several prominent party members have expressed interest in contesting, and the leadership is under pressure to ensure a fair and transparent process that unites the party.
Meanwhile, supporters of the various aspirants are rallying behind their preferred candidates, confident that they will emerge victorious in the internal contest.
