Thomas Partey joined Arsenal in 2020

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey is on the verge of leaving Arsenal after contract extension talks between the player and the club reportedly hit a roadblock.

The 32-year-old joined Arsenal in 2020 from Atletico Madrid and has become a key figure on Arteta’s side.

A source told ESPN that negotiations for a possible renewal are at a standstill. So, Partey could possibly leave the club on June 30.

Despite persistent injury concerns in previous years, Partey enjoyed his most productive campaign in an Arsenal shirt during the 2024/25 season.

He made 52 appearances across all competitions; his highest tally since joining Arsenal and has contributed four goals and three assists, playing a central role in Arteta’s tactical plans throughout the club’s domestic and European runs.

His stint in north London has brought no major trophies, although he did play in their 2023 Community Shield penalty victory over Manchester City.

Partey played in all but three of Arsenal’s Premier League fixtures last season, scoring four goals and claiming two assists, as they came second for the third consecutive campaign.

Partey has started exploring options as a free agent with several clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus and PSG already keen on signing him.
