Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie

Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture Abla Dzifa Gomashie has confirmed that part a $30 million fund will be used for the renovation of Ghana’s National Theatre.

In a recent interview with Umaru Sanda on Citi FM, the Minister clarified that the funds, while significant, are part of a broader initiative.

“Let’s give the credit to the President, it is a renovation, and it is being done by a Chinese firm. I’m not sure that the whole $30 million will be used for only the renovation; part of it is going to the national theatre,” she stated.

The minister said she was optimistic that the long-awaited refurbishment of the iconic venue would commence in 2026.

“This year we will be able to start renovation,” she confirmed.

Beyond the National Theatre, the Minister said she is focused on completing various regional projects around the country, most of which are in various stages of completion.

“In all the regions, there are structures that we started and are in various stages of completion; I’ve gone around to see them… so my job is to make sure that all these are completed. I am looking forward to that,” she said.
