The Panya Fraternity Foundation has extended a helping hand to school children at Ponkrom M/A Basic School in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) Municipality with the donation of teaching and learning materials.
The gesture, which forms part of the foundation’s annual service to society, is aimed at supporting deprived schools in the municipality.
Speaking during the presentation, the Programs Coordinator of the foundation, Ing. Daniel Mensah Sarbah, outlined the three core missions of the group since its establishment in 2010. These include health, through education and periodic health screening, secondly, Sanitation, to promote cleanliness in KEEA, and lastly, Education, by providing deprived communities with educational support.
He explained that the choice of Ponkrom M/A Basic School followed careful deliberations among members of the fraternity, making the community the first beneficiary this year.
Miss Ruby Andoh, Secretary of the foundation, emphasized their commitment to ensuring that children in less privileged communities have access to quality education. She encouraged pupils to study hard to achieve their dreams while urging teachers and parents to play their roles in shaping the future of the children.
Mr. Ebenezer Buertey, Deputy Director in charge of Administration and Finance at the Ghana Education Service (GES), KEEA, commended the foundation for its timely support, noting that it would ease the financial burden on parents as schools reopen.
Mr. Henry Amartey, SISU for Agona Circuit, applauded the teachers of Ponkrom M/A Basic School for their dedication and challenged them to continue working towards excellence in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). He further appealed to other organizations and institutions to support the school, while also expressing gratitude to the Panya Fraternity Foundation for remembering the needs of the community.
The Headmaster of Ponkrom M/A Basic School, Mr. Joseph Takyire expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Panya Fraternity Foundation, noting that many parents struggle to provide basic learning materials for their wards.
