The Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed several lives near Brofoyedru in the Ashanti Region.

In a press statement signed by the party’s chairman, Professor Thaddeus P. Ulzen, on August 8, 2025, PAG extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the victims in the line of duty.

“These gentlemen lost their lives in the service of the nation, and the whole PAG family extends our condolences to the bereaved families,” the statement read.

The party also called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident, expressing hope that the truth would be uncovered to help prevent such tragedies in the future.

“We expect that a thorough investigation will reveal the cause or causes of this very unfortunate incident,” PAG stated.

The statement concluded with a prayer for the souls of the deceased, “We pray that their souls may rest in the bosom of the Lord in eternity.”

The crash of the Z9 helicopter, which belonged to the Ghana Armed Forces, claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

Other victims included Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, former Central Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong, and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

Members of the helicopter’s crew were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, and Sgt. Ernest Addo Mensah.
