President John Dramani Mahama has assured that completed housing units at Oxygen City in Ho will be priced affordably for Ghanaians.

The development is designed as a mixed-use community, combining affordable housing, commercial spaces, and recreational facilities.

According to the President, homes will be priced in local currency with low interest rates, making homeownership more accessible to ordinary Ghanaians while stimulating economic activity in the Volta Region.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony in Ho on December 17, 2025, President Mahama said, “The houses will be priced in cedis, not dollars, with single-digit interest rates, making it affordable for our Ghanaian workers to acquire before they go on retirement.”

He added that the project will feature multi-story apartments configured as two- and three-bedroom units.

“Residents will also benefit from modern infrastructure, including streetlights, proper drainage, sewage systems, water, and electricity.”

President Mahama noted that efforts are underway, led by Togbe Afede XIV, to attract investors for the construction of a world-class hospital within Oxygen City.

The Oxygen City project marks TDC Ghana Limited’s first expansion beyond Tema, following a revision of its legal mandate. Until 2017, the state-owned real estate developer was restricted to the 63-square-mile Tema Acquisition Area.

The amendment now authorises TDC to undertake housing and related developments nationwide, with the Ho project serving as the first practical implementation of this expanded role.
