The Ahene Nanahene of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu, has responded to Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, over his recent comment that the Golden Stool looks “welded.”

According to Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu, the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area appears confused in his utterances and “does not know what he is saying.”

Speaking in an interview on Adum TV on August 24, 2025, he alleged that the Dormaahene is being haunted by the ghost of his late mother, whom he claimed died mysteriously.

He added that because Dormaahene ignored investigating the cause of death, his mother’s spirit is troubling him, leading him to make unnecessary comments.

He further stated that the Dormaahene’s hatred against the Asantehene “will not work” and cautioned him to be careful with his remarks.

Touching on history, Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu explained that Dormaahene’s own uncle once served at the Manhyia Palace and revered the same Golden Stool.

He questioned what had changed over the years since he became chief for him to doubt now or disrespect the Stool.

“Did he see the Golden Stool that he is questioning whether it is from the sky? Everything the Dormaahene is saying about the Golden Stool does not make sense. He does not know what he is talking about,” Nana Kwame Mensah Bonsu stressed.

According to the Dormaahene, the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi, which is said to have been summoned down from the sky by the high priest Okomfo Anokye, appeared welded when it was displayed in public.

He, therefore, cast doubt on the historical account of it being commanded from the sky.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, known in legal circles as Justice Daniel Mensah and currently serving as a High Court Judge, stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie.”

Otumfuo’s Ahene Nanahene casts doubt on Dormaahene’s bench decisions

“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?” he questioned.

Meanwhile, according to history, the Golden Stool is said to have descended in a cloud of white dust, amidst thunder and landed on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu, by the command of the late Okomfo Anokye, a fetish priest.

Dormaahene, on the other hand, has been a critic of historical narratives, especially those he has described as distorted facts in the country’s history.
