Mumin (L) met with Black Stars Coach Otto Addo (M)

Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has paid a visit to Rayo Vallecano centre-back, Abdul Mumin, in Madrid as the defender continues his recovery from a long-term anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Mumin has only just returned to light training this week after spending months on the sidelines.

The Ghana international suffered the ACL injury on March 31, 2025, during Rayo’s 1–1 draw with Sevilla and has not played in La Liga since.

After the meeting, Otto Addo expressed admiration for the defender’s work ethic and attitude throughout his rehabilitation process.

“Great catching up with Abdul Mumin and to hear about all the hard work and dedication that has gone into his positive first week return to training. Keep up the great work and we will keep monitoring your progress,” Addo said.

The visit forms part of the coach’s trip to Spain, where he is meeting Ghanaian players based in the country to maintain close contact ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Earlier, he also met midfielder Kwasi Sibo at Real Oviedo.

But the stop in Madrid was particularly significant, with Addo keen to reassure Mumin that he remains firmly in his plans once fully fit.
