Black Stars skipper, Andre Ayew, is set to be omitted from Ghana’s squad to face Chad and Madagascar.

A report filed by GhanaSoccernet indicates that the 36-year-old will not make the list to be announced in the coming days.

The Le Havre forward has not played for the national team since 2003. His long absence has reportedly triggered a change in captaincy restructure, with his brother Jordan Ayew named as the main skipper ahead of the upcoming international break.

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is reportedly set to announce his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Friday, March 14, 2025.

According to sources close to GhanaWeb, Thomas Partey, who missed the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in September and November 2024 due to injury, is expected to make his return to the squad.

Additionally, Antoine Semenyo and Alexander Djiku, who missed the final AFCON qualifier against Niger, will also be making their return for the World Cup qualifiers.

According to multiple reports, Nations FC defender Razak Simpson could retain his slot in the squad after an impressive outing against Angola and Niger in November.

GhanaWeb understands that Black Stars players will report for camping on Monday, March 17, 2025, to begin preparations for the two upcoming games against Chad and Madagascar.

The Black Stars will face Chad in Accra on Friday, March 21, before travelling to Morocco to take on Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
