The Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, has shared the tough moments he went through following Ghana’s disastrous defeat to Sudan in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In his narration, he noted that he was emotionally, physically, and psychologically damaged, describing it as a ‘dead’ moment for him.

However, he was able to recover from the situation with support from his relatives and friends who encouraged him to stay strong despite the trying moments he found himself in.

Otto Addo assured that after some days, he has now been able to recover from the loss and will work tirelessly with the players to win the remaining two matches.

“To be honest, the last two days [after the Sudan match], I was dead. But now, I got a lot of positive feedback and a lot of support from family and friends, and this is the time I need them. And this brought me back on track and is very important for us to think ahead to try as much as possible to win the last games,” he is quoted by myjoyonline.com to have said.

The Black Stars suffered a catastrophic defeat to Sudan, losing 2-0 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

Ghana now faces the huge uncertainty of qualifying for Africa’s flagship competition in 2025 after earning just two points from four games and, as a result, sitting third in their group.

The Black Stars will now have to win their two remaining games of the qualifiers while hoping that Sudan loses their respective matches in order to avoid not qualifying for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
