Black Stars coach, Otto Addo has revealed that he learned a great deal from his encounter with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during a visit to the Premier League side.

Otto Addo noted that the meeting provided him with opportunities to learn new things that would enhance his coaching expertise.

He emphasised that he is open to gaining knowledge from experienced managers to improve his decision-making throughout his career.

“Generally speaking, I learn from good coaches but also from bad ones. Sometimes I observe coaches and think, ‘I want to do it this way,’ and I learn that if a certain situation arises, I shouldn’t handle it like that. So I learn from all players, but certainly more from those who are approachable,” he said in an interview with Sporty FM when asked about his visit to the Emirates Stadium.

He also expressed appreciation to former Black Stars coaches who helped him gain coaching experience, especially during the 2014 World Cup.

“I learned from Ghanaian players, like in 2014 when I was guiding the team and preparing them especially for the German game, with Kwasi Appiah. I’m thankful to him for giving me the opportunity to learn. I also learned from Maxwell Konadu, CK Akonnor, and everyone,” he added.

Otto Addo has qualified the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after finishing first in Group I with 25 points.
