Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has etched his name in Ghana’s football history after guiding the national team to a second consecutive FIFA World Cup qualification.

Ghana booked their place at the 2026 tournament with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros in their final Group I qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 12 October.

The feat makes Addo the first coach to lead Ghana to back-to-back World Cup appearances, having also steered the Black Stars to the 2022 edition in Qatar following their absence from the 2018 competition.

This qualification marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at football’s biggest stage. Among African nations, only Cameroon (8), Morocco (7), Tunisia (7), and Nigeria (6) have featured more times at the World Cup.

With Addo once again at the helm, the Black Stars will now turn their focus to preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
