Sports journalist Collins Atta Poku has hit back at Black Stars head coach Otto Addo over claims that he engaged Thomas Partey before the team played against Angola and Niger in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

According to him, Otto Addo did not call up Partey to join the Black Stars squad and did not phone him to explain things to the player as the coach told the public.

The Sompa FM journalist stated that if care is not taken, Partey might decide not to play for the Black Stars due to how Addo is handling issues within the team.

“Nobody called Partey. The coach should stop those semantics. I am saying this on authority. What he did to Joseph Paintsil is the same thing happening between him and Partey. You remember he said he told Paintsil that football is not all about goals and assists.

“The issues are deeper, and if the officials don’t stamp their authority, Partey might not play for the national team again,” he said in Twi while speaking in an interview with Sompa FM.

It will be recalled that Otto Addo explained to the media that he had a personal phone call conversation with Partey concerning his role in the team and stressed that everything is fine.

However, when pressed further for the details of the conversation, Otto Addo refused to do so, saying there is no need for that to be done.

Following their 2-1 defeat to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Black Stars ended at the bottom of Group F with three points, failing to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
