Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has attributed Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Otto Addo, who is the head coach of the team.

The four-time African champions, for the first time in two decades, will not compete in the continent’s most prestigious tournament.

Ghana, after six games played in the qualifiers, finished at the bottom of its group with three points, having amassed three defeats and three draws.

Speaking in an interview, the U-20 FIFA World Cup winner blamed the GFA and Otto Addo for the team’s failure to qualify for the tournament that will be staged in Morocco later this year.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Otto Addo must all share the blame for failing to qualify Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON),” the former Udinese and Asante Kotoko midfielder told Sporty FM.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will regroup for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers later this month with games against Chad and Madagascar.
