Black Stars Head Coach, Otto Addo, marked Ghana’s qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a moment of gratitude rather than grandeur.

Just a week after leading the national team to a crucial 2-0 win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, the 49-year-old manager was spotted attending a thanksgiving service on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Trinity United Church, at Legon.

In a video circulating online, Addo was seen dressed simply in a white long-sleeve shirt and black trousers as he walked to the altar, joining other congregants to receive prayers from the pastor.

The camera later captured his image on the church’s big screen, drawing admiration from worshippers who recognised the man who had once again delivered Ghana to the world stage.

This qualification marks a historic milestone for Addo, who becomes the first Ghanaian coach to guide the Black Stars to back-to-back World Cups, having earlier secured Ghana’s place at Qatar 2022.

His calm, disciplined approach in the qualifying games has earned him wide praise, particularly after a campaign that demanded both tactical precision and emotional resilience.
