Former Black Stars coach Otto Addo has been selected as part of FIFA’s technical study group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 50-year-old tactician will join a team of experts responsible for analyzing tactics, player performances, data, set-pieces and key trends throughout the tournament. The group will also contribute to the selection of individual awards including the prestigious Golden Ball prize.
Addo was most recently in charge of Ghana’s national team, having served as the Black Stars head coach on a permanent basis since March 2024.
However, his stint ended earlier this year after the Ghana Football Association decided to part ways with him following defeats to Austria and Germany in pre-World Cup friendly matches in March. He was relieved of his duties exactly two years after first taking charge of the team.
Before his role with Ghana, Addo worked within the coaching setup of Borussia Dortmund, where he built a strong reputation for his tactical knowledge and player development abilities.
The former Ghana coach now takes on a significant international role ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico next month.
