The OSP, led by Kissi Agyebeng, has reportedly invited Baba Jamal The OSP, led by Kissi Agyebeng, has reportedly invited Baba Jamal

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reportedly invited the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate-elect for the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election, Baba Jamal.

The invitation was disclosed by the host of Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Moro Awudu, during the Monday, February 9, 2026, edition of the programme.

According to him, sources close to Baba Jamal have confirmed that he has been invited to assist the OSP with its investigation into allegations of vote-buying during the NDC February 7, 2026, primaries, which he won.

“My unimpeachable source tells me that Baba Jamal himself has been invited. In fact, a letter has been written to him. He has been invited for some questioning.

“I’m not too sure whether the others have also received a similar letter. If they haven’t, I don’t know what the OSP intends to send them letters. If they have, then that’s fine. Then I don’t have that information,” he added.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) announced that it had launched investigations into alleged vote-buying in the National Democratic Congress’ Ayawaso East primaries.

According to a statement released by the OSP, the anti-corruption body also conducted a real-time investigation during the NDC primaries in Ayawaso East following reports of electoral malpractice and intimidation.

The OSP revealed that during the parliamentary primaries, one of the candidates, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, allegedly abetted individuals who physically attacked an officer of the Office carrying out investigative duties related to vote-buying and selling.

“During the conduct of the NDC parliamentary primaries… one of the candidates allegedly abetted thugs to attack an officer of the OSP physically,” the notice said.

As a result, the Office has opened an additional investigation into the alleged assault of the authorised officer in the line of duty.

“Consequently, the OSP has opened further investigations into the assault of an authorised officer of the OSP in the performance of his functions,” it added.
