Former Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has questioned Otto Addo’s ability to lead the Black Stars at the 2026 World Cup, should Ghana secure qualification.

Ghana currently sits at the top of Group I with a three-point cushion and just two games remaining in the qualifiers, keeping them firmly on course for a place at next year’s global showpiece.

While results have generally gone in the team’s favour, performances have often been inconsistent, with Addo facing criticism over Ghana’s lack of cohesion.

Speaking in an interview with Wontumi FM, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu expressed doubts about the coach’s readiness.

Otto Addo: Pragmatism or tactical blind spot?

“I’m sure Ghana is going to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, but Otto Addo is not a coach who can lead us to the tournament,” he said.

He also shared his views on Ghana’s group rivals.

“I see Mali as the strongest opponent in our group; unfortunately, they did not start the qualification series well. It is too late for them to secure qualification. For Madagascar, who are trailing us with 16 points, they can’t win the two remaining games,” he added.

Ghana’s 1–0 win over Mali on September 8, 2025, has left them just one step away from confirming their ticket to the World Cup.

The Black Stars will next travel to face the Central African Republic before finishing their campaign at home against Comoros in October 2025.
