A video showcasing densely populated residential buildings in Lagos Island has sparked a reaction online, highlighting some harmful building practices.

The viral clip revealed the congested and cramped living conditions on the island, exposing structural buildings built adjacent to one another, resulting in inadequate ventilation.

The person who made the video wondered how the residents live comfortably because there isn’t much open space between the homes on Lagos Island.

The video has triggered a flurry of reactions with netizens suggesting the collapse of buildings in Lagos Island was due to substandard building construction.

Internet users asserted that residential properties might provide a family with cash, but would never propose reconstruction or safety.

    See reactions below,

@classyzee_ This is not lagos Island, Infact houses like this na mainland dem full pass

@_abdulwakeel_ You see most of those tiny house, dem reach like 50 wey inherit am, na why he no easy to let go!!!

@lmd_tha_rappa If I dey inside relationship and I dey stay this kind place (God forbid) I go get trust issues 😂😂

@moladahbeddings See building like slice of Agege bread and the most worrisome thing is that, most of those houses are weak. That’s why they often collapse easily 😢😢😢

@bennysouzamedia That’s why when one house gets burnt in idumota , over 30 houses will be affected
