The Asanteman Council has set Thursday, August 21, 2025, as the date for the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The solemn rites will take place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, drawing royals, chiefs, and mourners from across the Ashanti Region and beyond in accordance with time-honoured Asante customs.

The announcement came during a council meeting at Manhyia Palace on Monday, August 11, marking the first official update since her passing on Thursday, August 7, at the age of 98.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III ascended to the role of Queen Mother in 2017, succeeding her late mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died in 2016. Born in 1927 in Benyaade, Kwadaso, she was the eldest of five children. Before stepping into royal duties, she built her life through catering, farming, and petty trading.

Despite not having a formal education, she earned a reputation for her vast cultural knowledge, wisdom, and vibrant personality. She had a deep love for cooking, music, and dancing, endearing herself to both the royal household and the wider community.

Throughout her reign, she stood as a steadfast pillar beside the Asantehene, offering unwavering loyalty and working tirelessly to safeguard the traditions and heritage of the Asante Kingdom.
