Asanteman will on Thursday, August 21, observe the one-week rites for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

The observance will follow strict Asante tradition, bringing together royals, traditional leaders, and mourners from across the Ashanti Region and beyond.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the Asanteman Council on Monday, August 11, at the Manhyia Palace.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the age of 98.

She was outdoored as Asantehemaa in 2017, following the death of her predecessor and mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, in 2016.

Born in 1927 in Benyaade, Kwadaso, the late Queen Mother was the eldest of five children and engaged in catering, farming, and petty trading before ascending the stool.

She was known for her passion for cooking, music, and dancing, and was widely respected for her deep cultural knowledge and wisdom despite not receiving formal education.

Throughout her reign, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was celebrated for her unwavering support to the Asantehene and her dedication to preserving the traditions and heritage of the Asante Kingdom.
