File photo: A swift response from the police led to the arrest of one suspect

The Obuasi Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service has foiled a robbery mission on the Tutuka-Akrofrom road, Obuasi, after a distress call.

A statement shared on the official Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service on Saturday, August 2, indicated that one suspect was arrested.

According to the statement, preliminary interrogations clarified that the team that responded to the distress call and acted quickly, chanced on a gang of armed robbers who fled into the bush.

They left behind two unregistered motorbikes and a machete.

“A swift response from the Obuasi Divisional command of the Ghana Police Service to a distress call foiled a robbery on the Tutuka-Akrofuom road- Obuasi and led to the successful arrest of one suspect.

Preliminary interrogations indicated that the Police team that responded to the distress call saw a gang of robbers who fled into the bush, leaving two unregistered motorbikes and a machete behind,” the statement indicated.

During a pursuit though the bush, the police arrested one of the suspects, identified as Pascal Yenkye, wo sustained a gunshot injury while attempting to flee on a motorbike.

Pascal Yenkye is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard while a manhunt has been launched to arrest the other suspects.

The Ghana police service reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and maintaining law and order across the country.
