During his campaign visit in the Ashanti Region, particularly in the Adansi Asokwa seat, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has once again drawn attention. A video of the vice president eating roasted plantains, known locally as Kofi Brokeman, went viral very fast and generated conflicting opinions among internet users.

Comments on social media erupted immediately, with some applauding the NPP candidate for being humble and assimilating with regular Ghanaians.

However, many were quick to dismiss the action as a standard campaign tactic. Only during elections do they do this. One person asked, “Will you see them eating by the roadside after they win?”
