Bernard Mornah is leader of the People’s National Convention

The flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to stage a demonstration at the United States Embassy following the detention of former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta.

Mornah argued that the NPP has, in recent months, been quick to mobilise protests at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) whenever its members are arrested or detained.

However, he said he found it curious that the party had remained silent since Ofori-Atta’s arrest by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Joy Prime on Monday, January 12, 2026, Mornah stated:

“Finally, Ken has been detained in the United States of America. Why is the NPP not demonstrating? Because when some of them were picked up by EOCO, the entire Parliament walked there.”

He added that he had expected the NPP to show the same level of solidarity by mounting pressure at the US Embassy.

“So, I am expecting that by now the NPP would have taken over the US Embassy completely, sitting there and asking that the government of the United States has taken Ken Ofori-Atta into detention,” he said.
