Oasis reunion tour LIVE: Excitement builds in Cardiff as Noel and Liam Gallagher reunite for first gig in 16 years

    By OLIVIA CHRISTIE

    Updated: 08:40 EDT, 4 July 2025

It is the gig that fans have been waiting 16 years for, but tonight Oasis will kickstart their long-awaited worldwide reunion tour.

Excitement is already building in Cardiff, where brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher will perform together for the first time since their dramatic split in 2009.

The pair announced the Oasis Live ’25 tour last August, starting with two dates in the Welsh capital tonight and tomorrow, before heading across the UK and Ireland.

It was the biggest concert launch ever seen in the UK, with more than 10million fans from 158 countries queuing to buy tickets last summer.

Doors are not expected to open until 5pm but fans are already getting in the Oasis spirit.

‘This is bigger than my wedding day’: Excitement builds outside stadium

By Dolly Busby, Showbuisness Reporter for the Daily Mail

Patrick Foley and his 10-year-old son, Alex, who is a self-proclaimed superfan, had travelled from Stroud to be there for the ‘monumental’ moment.

Alex said: ‘I have been a fan for six to seven years, when my dad played a song I just fell in love with them, I’ll remember this forever.

‘I would rather be here than the Man United Champions league final, it’s a once in a lifetime.

‘Everyone at school thinks I’m really cool. I woke up at 3am because I couldn’t sleep I was so excited to see Liam.

Despite being a longstanding superfan, it is Patrick’s first gig and said: ‘I wouldn’t rather be with anyone else than my son.’

Standing next to his wife Holly, 31, Welsh superfan Jarreth, 33, told MailOnline: ‘This is bigger than my wedding day. Well I can’t say that, it’s the top three. It goes wedding day, birth of our daughter Lila, who is named after the Oasis song, and then today.’

Punters down pints as they eagerly await Oasis’s Cardiff reunion – including a couple coming over from Vienna

By Eirian Jane Prosser for MailOnline

An army of Oasis fans clad in bucket hats and trench coats have taken over Cardiff this morning as thousands gather for the Gallagher brothers first onstage reunion in 15 years.

With just hours to go until one of the most iconic music comebacks of the century so far, punters were seen downing pints in the Welsh capital as they wait for the world tour to kick off.

Paaya, 39, who has been of the fan since he was 10, has travelled from Vienna with his girlfriend to see both nights of the Cardiff tour.

While the couple paid over £450 for the opening night surprisingly they only paid £65 for tomorrow.

With his hair dyed green and black, wearing an adidas tracksuit, Paaya told MailOnline: ‘We were really lucky as because we’re part of the fanclub we were able to get the tickets relatively cheap. I know loads of people who paid much more than us obviously.

‘I started listening to them in 1996 when I was 10 years old, about the time when Don’t Look Back in Anger first came out.

‘But this is the first time I’ll be seeing them together as a band. I saw Liam four times and Noel twice but obviously never once together.

‘I don’t care what songs they play I’m just looking forward to seeing them all together on one stage.’

Bring It On Down (Under): Two fans take two days to get to gig from Sydney in Australia

Two Oasis fans spent more than a day travelling to get to Cardiff in time for the band’s first gig since 2009.

Lachlan Weekes and Jayden Helm travelled from Sydney, Australia, to attend the concert in the Welsh capital.

Mr Weekes said: ‘We’ve been planning it forever. We always said that if they got back together, we’d be at that first show.”

Mr Helm said: ‘We’ve been lifelong fans – we’re 22 and 21, so haven’t really had a chance to see them before.

‘It was a long two flights to get here, it’s just over a day of travel – a long time – we’re still a bit jet lagged, I think.

‘We always said it was worth it to come, we wouldn’t miss it for the world. To take time off work to come over here, it’s more than worth it.’

They also visited Manchester, stopping off at Heaton Park as part of their personal Oasis tour.

Mr Weekes hopes the band will play Slide Away, while Mr Helm said he would ‘go crazy’ for Cigarettes And Alcohol.

‘All around the world’: Oasis devotee arriving from Germany says no distance is too far to travel to see the band reform

Alex Schuetz, an Oasis fan from Germany now in Cardiff for tonight’s gig, told how he would travel any distance to see them perform.

Mr Schuetz said: ‘The first time I saw them was in 1997. The last time was in Manchester 2009, just before they broke up.

‘I even got a ticket for a small festival in Germany and on the ferry to that festival I heard they broke up. I was like, “Oh my God” – something was dying inside of me. It sounds a bit stupid, but it took me ages (to get over it).”

He added: ‘I’ve come from Germany. You cannot travel far enough – I’ve been a fan since 1995.’

Mr Schuetz said he was pleased they were back together but joked that the money might be the thing to stop them from fighting.

He added: ‘They need the money, it’s too much for them. Bonehead (Oasis’s guitarist) will be between them, he’s the good soul of the band, so he’ll sort them out.’

Mr Schuetz had been among the many fans enduring difficulties getting hold of a ticket when they went on sale last year.

He as far as putting his card information in before he was kicked back into the waiting room again, recalling: ‘I saw the screen, there was a technical issue, my number was 286,000 and something, and I was like, “Are you serious?”

Other fans arriving from overseas to catch the band in action have been showing national flags including Argentine and French.

‘They followed me for two or three minutes so I just kept going and eventually managed to lose them.’

Among those who camped out overnight last night was Marco di Maro, 41, a BnB owner from Palermo, Sicily.

He said: ‘It was horrible sleeping in the tent. I was freezing.

‘Two days ago I was lying on the beach in Sicily, with a Spritz. Now I’m in Cardiff.

‘But their music stayed with me in the bad period of my life, when my father passed away, when I lost my job.

‘So to see such a historic event, the trouble is nothing. I do not care about my wallet, or anything.

‘I’m also a guitarist so I would say Noel is my favourite, but Liam is Liam..’

Caroline Schadow, 26, an audio technician from Halle in Germany, had also joined the queue.

She said: ‘I’m trying to get Noel to hire me.

‘I brought him a Cherry Ripe chocolate bar because he said it was his favourite on a podcast. But you can only get it from Australia, so I had it imported.

‘To get the tickets, I had to refresh the page for six hours on a work day.

My supervisor came in and caught me at one point but he just said: ‘What point are you at in the queue?’ It turned out everyone in the office was doing it.

‘Some of my earliest memories are listening to their music because my brother was a huge fan.’

A look back at the dynamic pricing fiasco

Oasis hit out at Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing system in September last year after their ticket sale was mired in controversy.

However, screenshots from the Ticketmaster website offering In Demand standing tickets being listed for hundreds of pounds each.

Oasis said of Saturday’s chaotic ticket sale: ‘As for the well reported complaints many buyers had over the operation of dynamic ticketing: it needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used.’

The band announced they would be doing two more shows, with tickets allocated using a ballot system.

Noel Gallagher‘s close pal Jo Whiley has said she ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if he has written new music for the Oasis reunion tour.

But fans could possibly be in for a treat, Radio 2 DJ Jo has hinted, as she speculated as to whether Noel could have written new music for the tour.

Earlier this week, Oasis shared a breakdown of their first show on their official X account.

Doors to the Cardiff Principality Stadium will open at 5pm, before Oasis take to the stage at 8.15pm.

For more than a year, Tom Ceze lovingly tended to the bougainvilleas and citrus trees in the grounds of Liam Gallagher‘s spectacular hideaway home on the French Riviera.

The professional gardener seemed to get on well with the Oasis singer who hired him personally and would often encourage him to break off from his horticultural endeavours and join him for a coffee or a cold beer.

But he says their relationship ended on a sour note when he received a call out of the blue – telling him he was being given the chop.

Oasis fan gutted after tickets deemed invalid due to mistake by seller

An Oasis fan is gutted after her tickets were deemed invalid because the reseller sold them twice.

Beth North, 31, spent £730 on four tickets for tomorrow’s Principality Stadium gig in Cardiff, Wales, via the official ticket reselling website Twickets on June 27.

And just five days before the gig, she went onto the app to download them into her digital wallet – only to find they had been revoked.

The reseller had listed the same four tickets for sale twice – after a delayed response from the first buyer.

They told Beth the tickets were awarded to the first buyer, who wasn’t her, after they were downloaded by the first buyer.

Beth North. A woman who bought four Oasis tickets off a resale website had her tickets swiped away from her digital wallet, and the refund still hasn't come through. Beth, 31, had never seen the band live before and when they released their debut album, "Definitely Maybe," when she was two years old, but the music stayed with her throughout her childhood. She is a huge Oasis fan, and once the band announced the reunion, she could not contain her excitement; getting tickets was a must.

She’s still awaiting a refund and has had to fork out another £480 for two tickets to the June 30 gig at the same venue via Ticketmaster.

Richard Davies, founder of Twickets, said: ‘We’re really sorry to hear about Bethany’s experience and completely understand how disappointing this must have been.

‘As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we issued a full refund on 1st July, and this normally takes 2-3 days to transfer.

‘We advised her to keep checking the platform, as we know from experience that more tickets often appear closer to the event date.’

The Gallagher brothers still don’t appear to be getting along, despite their lucrative come-back tour kicking off tonight.

But, some might say, they could learn a thing or two from their children, who appear to be enjoying each other’s company ahead of the band’s first appearance in 16 years.

Rumours of the Oasis reunion tour being a ‘cash grab’ have been fuelled by speculation the famously warring siblings are still at loggerheads.

Yet their offspring seemed closer than ever as they chatted about their childhoods in the spotlight.

Noel’s daughter Anais, 25, was joined by Liam’s children Molly, 27, Lennon, 25, and Gene, 24, at a photo shoot for the July issue of W Magazine.

He is hoping to meet Liam, his favourite Gallagher, to tell him that he is not ‘just a random fan’.

Describing what he would say if confronted with his idol, whose face he has tattooed on his back, he said: ‘A lot of people meet him. Obviously they are fans but they probably don’t have what I’ve got.’

Fearful residents are demanding a dress code as 340,000 Oasis fans are due to flood their streets ahead of five concerts later this month.

Locals living near Heaton Park, Manchester, says they are concerned about nudity, drunken behaviour and people peeing in their gardens during the sell-out gigs.

The park’s neighbours say they’ve even been given temporary fencing to place in front of the houses to defend themselves from hordes of concert-goers.

What was the controversy surrounding tickets for the tour?

The launch of Oasis’s reunion tour last year was plagued by controversy surrounding Ticketmaster.

Website issues and a controversial dynamic pricing system brought outrage, with many fans failing to secure a spot.

After tickets for the UK and Ireland shows went on sale last year, some standard tickets appeared to have jumped from £148 to £355.

The controversy prompted the Government and the UK’s competition watchdog to pledge to look at the use of dynamic pricing.
