A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has criticised the party’s decision to elect a presidential candidate before reorganising its internal structures.

He described the move as unconstitutional and strategically flawed.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe argued that the decision to select a flagbearer ahead of electing new national, regional, constituency, and polling station executives violates the party’s constitution.

He warned that such actions signal weak leadership and internal dysfunction.

“In a party that has just lost a major election, it is critical to conduct a thorough analysis of what went wrong. Rushing to elect a presidential candidate without honest reflection is a mistake. This process appears to be skewed in favour of a particular individual, ignoring genuine concerns raised by notable party figures”, he said.

In an adomonline.com report on June 21, 2025, he questioned the credibility of the current party leadership, blaming them for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

According to him, the existing executives lack the moral authority to lead a credible reorganisation process.

“The leadership that led the party into defeat cannot be trusted to conduct a credible process that aims at returning the party to power in 2028. We need a transparent, inclusive approach that strictly adheres to the party’s constitution if we are serious about rebuilding the NPP”, he indicated.
