The official investigative report on the recent Ridge Hospital assault case has revealed that there is no medical evidence to support claims made by rotation nurse Rejoice Tsotso Bortei that she suffered a shoulder dislocation during the incident.

The committee, which was tasked to review the matter, presented its findings to the Minister of Health on August 27, 2025. According to the report, medical records indicated that Rejoice did not sustain any fractures or dislocations as initially alleged. However, she was treated for minor injuries, given pain relief medication, advised to take some rest, and also provided with psychological support following the incident.

This conclusion directly contradicts earlier claims by the nurse, which had fueled intense public outrage after a viral video circulated online showing relatives of a patient clashing with staff at the hospital’s emergency department. The video triggered widespread condemnation, with many calling for stronger protection for health workers.

In a related development, Rejoice has filed a GHS 7 million lawsuit against social media personality Ralph Saint Williams, popularly known as Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian. She is suing for alleged assault and defamation connected to the same controversial incident.

The Health Ministry is yet to make an official statement on the committee’s recommendations, but the findings are expected to influence the next steps regarding both the hospital’s security protocols and the legal matters surrounding the case.
