A Nigerian nurse, identified as Zinab, has revealed how some hospitals in Nigeria sell and exchange babies for huge sums of money, often without the consent of their parents.
In an interview on the “Life Is Spiritual” podcast shared on X on November 14, 2025, Zinab explained that she became part of the syndicate after it was introduced to her by health professionals working in the same hospitals.
Zinab disclosed that aside from selling infants for sums of money, she also exchanges both dead and live babies.
“I work in a hospital where we switch babies. Sometimes we exchange a dead baby for a living one, and we are paid for it. I also sell babies.
“Some ladies get pregnant out of wedlock, and because their parents don’t want them coming home with unwanted pregnancies, we hide these pregnant women. When they give birth, we sell the babies and settle the mothers,” she said.
Zinab further revealed that she once sold a one-day-old baby, adding that she sometimes sells male children for as much as 4.5 million naira.
“If it’s a male child, I sell them for 4.5 million, and if it’s a female child, I sell them for 2–3 million. Boys are more expensive than girls because some traditions believe that giving birth to a male child keeps the family lineage alive.

“I have sold a baby for 500,000 before because I was in a tight corner and needed money urgently. It’s not only me, doctors and midwives collaborate in this. Fifty out of 100 hospitals in Nigeria do this,” she claimed.
Zinab added that she has been spiritually tormented by one of the babies she sold.
According to her, she has had no rest, as the baby keeps appearing in her dreams.
“The last baby I sold has been tormenting me in my dreams. I went to a spiritualist to tie the spirit of the baby, but afterwards, the baby became more aggressive. As I’m talking to you, I’m even scared for my life.
It’s very scary because this baby has been talking in my dreams,” she added.
