IBF Jr. Lightweight champion Eduardo “Sugar” Nunez faces off with challenger Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz ahead of their title clash in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico on Saturday, September 6, live on DAZN. This will be the first defense for Nunez, who won the vacant crown against Masanori Rikiishi via unanimous decision back in May on Rikiishi’s home turf in Japan. For Diaz, he is hoping that the third time is the charm, as he previously challenged for the vacant WBO crown at this weight in a losing effort to Masayuki Ito in 2018, then dropping down to featherweight to challenge then reigning WBO champ Emanuel Navarrete, also losing in twelve via TKO.
