Nsoatreman FC have officially withdrawn from the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League following recent security threats.

The club in a letter addressed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), cited that incidents that occurred during their last two league fixtures informed their decision.

The Bono side noted that they cannot ensure the safety of their players and thus have been forced into dropping out of the league.

“We are forced to take this decision due to recent events involving our matches with Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Samatex FC, which we officially wrote to your high office about.”

“In light of this, we can no longer guarantee the safety of our players. Therefore, management and the board of directors are left with no choice but to prioritize the safety and security of our players by withdrawing from the League. We regret any inconveniences this decision may cause.”

Nsoatreman appears to be in the bad books of some GPL fans following the death of devoted Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, who got stabbed during Kotoko’s visit to Nsoatreman on February 2, 2025.

The league went for a brief halt after the tragic incident, with GFA agreeing to a security escort for Nsoatreman for the remainder of the season.

Despite the proactive safety measure, Nsoatreman narrowly escaped a gun attack en route to Sameraboi for their away fixture against Samartex. The unnamed suspect was subsequently arrested.

The two aforementioned security concerns have contributed to the club announcing their withdrawal from the league.

They leave the league occupying the 14th position with 21 points, sitting just three points above the relegation zone.
