Former General Manager of Nsoatreman FC, Eric Alagidede, has issued a warning to his former club, citing serious safety and security threats to the team.

His concerns arise following a near ambush of Nsoatreman FC by an unknown assailant while they were traveling to play their Ghana Premier League fixture against champions FC Samartex on Monday, March 10, 2025.

The incident follows the fatal stabbing of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, during Nsoatreman’s game against Asante Kotoko on February 2, 2025.

Despite efforts to restore calm and order, some fans had vowed to seek revenge for the deceased.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Alagidede revealed that the attempted ambush on Nsoatreman FC underscores lingering tensions, with some fans still harboring resentment over the issue.

As a result, he believes the team is not safe while traveling across the country.

“Clearly, the signal this sends to the FA, and everyone involved in our football is that this issue is not over. Anyone who thinks the gentleman (Pooley) has been buried and that the matter is resolved should reconsider. What happened yesterday (Monday) is a clear indication that Nsoatreman FC is not safe traveling across Ghana to play in the Ghana Premier League,” he said.

He further urged the club to avoid traveling at night and called on the Ghana Football Association to provide support for the team.

“This should be considered a national security concern, and the team should be given adequate security when traveling. I also believe traveling at night is not the best option for them because you never know what could happen,” he added.
