Sammy Ayer has voiced concerns per the motions adopted by NPP's recent delegates conference Sammy Ayer has voiced concerns per the motions adopted by NPP’s recent delegates conference

Presidential Aide for Government Communications, Sammy Ayer, has criticised key motions adopted at the NPP’s recent Delegates Conference, warning they could create more confusion within the party than solutions.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day, Ayer said the new rules, particularly Motion 46, which requires appointees such as ministers or CEOs to resign at least 24 months before contesting for flagbearer, could be problematic.

“What happens if the person is the Vice President or even the President?” he asked.

He also raised concerns over Motion 10, which compels party executives to resign upon appointment to public office, but fails to clarify how their replacements should be selected.

Addressing Motion 35, which designates the National Chairman as party leader, Ayer questioned if this was an admission that President Akufo-Addo had weakened the party’s leadership structure.

“They’re trying to strengthen the Chairman’s role in case of another weak president,” he remarked.

Ayer supported Motion 9, which proposes electing the party’s Communication Officer rather than appointing one.

He believes this would ensure greater accountability and improve communication strategy, something he claims the NPP lacked during the 2024 elections.

“While the NDC was offering policy solutions, the NPP lacked a clear, consistent message. These reforms may help, but they also expose the party’s past failures,” he concluded.

According to Sammy Ayer, the Presidential Aide for Government Communications, the motions adopted by the NPP during their Delegates Conference would create even more challenges for the party than they were already facing.
