Alhaji Ali Suraj, Aspiring National Nasara Coordinator Alhaji Ali Suraj, Aspiring National Nasara Coordinator

A prominent member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Ali Suraj, has welcomed the proposal to rechristen the position of National Nasara Coordinator to National Nasara Organizer.

According to Alhaji Suraj, the new title better reflects the purpose and significance underpinning the foundation of this particular role within the NPP.

In a post, he argued that the new name would elevate the focus of the position to a more prominent and active one, moving beyond its traditionally passive perception.

He further stated that the change would promote unity and foster a sense of oneness among the various Zongo and settler communities within the NPP.

    Read his post below:

Ali Suraj supports the proposal by the Nasara founding members to change the name from National Nasara Coordinator to National Nasara Organizer!

I fully support the amendment of Article 15(5a) of the party’s constitution, which currently limits the scope of the Nasara wing’s operations to only Zongo communities. The core mandate of the Nasara wing, from its inception as stipulated by the founding members, extends to all other settler communities.

The title Nasara Coordinator should be changed to Nasara and Settler Organizer to ensure better coordination with all other wings of the party, i.e., the Youth Wing and the Women’s Wing.

The Nasara wing, which started as the Nasara Club of the NPP, is now a full wing of the party—just like the Youth and Women’s Wings. These two wings have representation at the polling station level. As a political party focused on grassroots mobilization, representation at the polling station is crucial. Therefore, I support the call for Nasara Organizers to also be represented at the polling station level.

Furthermore, at least five of the founding members of Nasara should be granted voting rights in any internal election of the party. Additionally, one founding member should be given a seat on the National Council, and two should be represented on the Council of Elders.

The founding members of Nasara have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the party. Their rich experience cannot be underestimated—it is vital to making informed and strategic decisions that advance the party’s progress.
